When I was young I spent my time dreaming my Christmas dreams Until that magic morning arrived I planned all my Christmas schemes Mom and dad always knew my game reminding me of Santa’s list Naughty or nice wasn’t too much to ask because no kid could resist I guess I’ll have to be good until then Until we all would be together standing around our tree We were waiting for Christmas all year Now I am dream of seeing again those faces from long ago Some might make it home this time they say that they’d let me know I guess I’ll have to be patient until then Hoping we will be together standing around the tree I’ll be waiting for Christmas this year Now I dream of peace on earth And good will to all men But I guess we’re all just waiting until then Maybe all our hopes and dreams just might come true this year We’re all waiting for Christmas Soon we’ll return to far and near and I’ll pack up the tree and start waiting for Christmas next year

O Holy Night 02:45
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Savior's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pin - ing, 'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! O night   divine,   O night   when Christ was born;       O night   divine,   O night, O night Divine.

Christmas comes the same time each year But that don’t mean the day is full of cheer Cause my dad likes to sleep in late He just snores as we all just wait You can call him a scrooge You can call him the grinch He calls it likes he sees it He tells it like it is So stay out of his way Or you might get hit Cause its the holiday He’s our Christmas Dick. He don’t put lights before Halloween He don’t put up a tree before Thanksgiving He doesn’t like to shop, He doesn’t like to wrap He doesn’t like spending all his cash You can call him a scrooge You can call him the grinch He calls it likes he sees it He tells it like it is So stay out of his way Or you might get hit Cause its the holiday He’s the Christmas Dick. He doesn't like lights He doesn't like bells He doesn't like the way That gingerbread smells He doesn't like having a tree inside And he doesn't think That reindeer can fly You can call him a scrooge You can call him the grinch He calls it likes he sees it He tells it like it is So stay out of his way Or you might get hit Cause its the holiday He’s the Christmas Dick. Cause its the holiday He’s the Christmas Dick. Cause its the holiday He’s our Christmas Dick.

It’s another Christmas morn Another page is written Unto us a new year’s born Another chance is given Maybe this will be the year we get everything we’re needing Peace & love, Merry Christmas It’s another Christmas day Another gift is opened Will we raise a glass and say All the things we left unspoken Maybe this will be year we say everything we’re feeling Peace & love, Merry Christmas Maybe this year we’ll see everyone we’re missing Peace & love, Merry Christmas Peace & love, Merry Christmas

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne. Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

about

"David Woodard gives the power pop treatment to the traditional hymn “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” and it works... Ok, time for the show closer and this year is has to be the title track from David Woodard’s fab new holiday EP, Rocking Around the Power Pop Tree. If this pageant really had a story it would somehow lead to this hooky denouement – David really says (and plays) it all."

The title track is an origin story.

"Waiting for Christmas" and "Peace & Love, Merry Christmas" are nostalgic tributes of Christmas past, gratitude for Christmas present, hope for Christmas yet to come.

"The Christmas Dick" is a cynical take on the commercialization of the holiday (written by the legendary Dill Bourbonridge).

"O Come All Ye Faithful" and "O Holy Night" are tips of the hat to what started it all.

"Auld Lang Syne" is a raising of a glass of kindness for the coming year.

about

David Woodard Nashville, Tennessee

David Woodard returns with GET IT GOOD, a full-length effort full of his trademark sugar-sweet melodies and harmonies. There is much more here than throwbacks to the Liverpool’s favorite sons. David influences are often on his sleeve as overtones of Fountains of Wayne, Cheap Trick, Big Star, The Rolling Stones, and even boygenius trickle from your speakers like familiar friends. ... more
